they are both not very bad. l can see clearly without glasses but if l just look with my shortsighted eye, its very blurry. Do l need to wear glasses permanently (l use reading glasses at the moment)? If l dont wear glasses, would it strain my long sighted eye too much?

You might need to wear glasses with two types of lenses, lens for your short sighted eye and the other for your long sightedness. However, you should check with an eye doctor.

l know exactely what u r going through. My eyes starting getting a bit bad a few years back. l love to read & noticed that things were gettinga bit blurry more so in one eye than the other. l went t the eye doctor. He told me the thing about some glasses from the store that would help make things a bit easier. Well that did work for a while. Then l guess it creaped up on me because l was having more & more trouble as time passed on. l went back again about a month & a half ago.To a different eye doc this time. since l moved to another state. l am now far sighted in 1 eye, near sighted in the other & on top of that l now have a stigmatism. Apparently those glasses help for a little while but since my eyes r no longer 20/20 only one gets the help & the other worsened. At least that is what my new eye doc explained to me & it makes sense to me. The result, $300.00 later & mine r rimless! Go to a good eye doc & get some real glasses before u mess up those peepers.

Your doctor might try a contact lens in the longsighted eye or both eyes.

This is really up to you. If you feel like you need to wear them all the time, then do so. l suggest that consider contacts because it will better balance your vision. If you choose not wear eyeglasses the worst that can happen is eyestrain and possibly headaches.

Hello there, my aunty has the same thing as you and she chooses to go without glasses as she uses one eye for near and one eye for far. If you are bothered by the problems use glasses when you need to or use contacts to balance out your vision. Going without them is unlikely to cause any major strain to either eye.
