I've had a high prescription since l was twelve. It is on the increase, and now, as a teenager, I am hoping to be able to wear contacts. l was just wondering, though, is there a prescription limit for wearing contacts? Can people with high prescriptions wear contacts like everyone else? Thanks in advance!
l think the last time l visited by optometrist (which was about 2 years ago; I will be visiting her again in a month or so) she said l was 'showing signs of astigmatism'. Does that mean l have astigmatism, and how dramatically will it affect my contact lenses price?

Yes, as far as l know. :) l have a high prescription too, and l wear contacts.

You can get soft contacts in a prescription up to -14.00 or so, in certain brands. If u have astigmatism, u can also wear soft lenses, but they will be expensive. If you're farsighted, there r contacts up to about +10.00 that I've seen, but they might make them higher. Those usually have to be custom made, & r incredibly thick. If soft lenses do not work, there r always RGP, or hard lenses, that the doctor designs custom for ur eyes. They're harder to get used to, but r a good alternative for really difficult prescriptions. I've even seen patients who wear a hard contact over a soft one in the same eye, but that is usually after a cornea transplant or a botched lasik.

Your eyes r going to continue to get worse until you're in ur 20 is usually. Then u can get lasik, but make sure it is from a good surgeon.
