YEah, I am 17, how bad will it get in the future? l feel less able to participate and less motivated to do things because l feel disadvantaged. Cheer me up? :(

Eh, glasses will fix you up. l have a pretty bad power too.

You have a medium amount of farsightedness and astigmatism. You are not blind at all. Unless there is an underlying problem, glasses should be able to correct your vision to 20/20 while you wear them. Eyesight usually stabilizes in the twenties but can always change. Needing glasses should not make you feel disadvantaged; about half the population needs some kind of vision correction, and most of them are farsighted.

Your prescription tells us nothing about how blind u are.

Blindness is defined by how well u see with the glasses on. You will have to ask ur eye doctor what ur vision with glasses is to know if u have any degree of blindness. Blindness has no relation to needing glasses, it is caused by eye disease or trauma. If ur only problem is needing glasses, u r not blind at all.

Glasses 100% correct refractive error but do not correct other eye problems like amblyopia, strabismus, eye disease etc.

Stop feeling sorry for yourself. You r not disadvantaged one bit by needing glasses. Wear them or get contacts.
