l have very poor eyesight. My prescription is -12.5S and -14.25D (this is the contact-lens version of my current glasses prescription).l am currently on a trial pare of CIBA Focus Monthlies with my eye doctor. They seem okay at first, but throughout the day l get halos around things sometimes through my right eye, and my left one sometimes moves off of my eye.I've been wearing them on and off for a couple weeks now.
The reason l keep taking them off is because they get dry and itchy.Originally l used Opti-free cleansor to find that my eyes would burn horribly whenever they got wet so l switched to Complete and they seem to be fine but neither has helped the dryness or itchiness. We've tried a special overnight solution that cleans any protein or calcium off of them but with no difference in results.I've also gotten prescription eye drops which helped slightly with the itchiness, but not the dryness at all...My vision with the contacts gets worse throughout the day as do the halos on the right and moving on the left.
Are they moving/blurry because of the dryness, or could it be something else?
l have read that these brands of contacts are good for dryness.Do you have any experience with them?(l do not want them to tear while in my eyes..)
CIBA O2Optix and Night & Day, Purevision from Bausch & Lomb, Johnson & Johnson Acuvue Advance and Coopervision is Proclear.
Thank you very very much.(My doctor has suggested the O2Optix, but says there is no warranty on them. They are $400 and if they do not work, I am out that money.l cannot go to another doctor because she is the only one in my area covered under my insurance.)

l have a nearly identical prescription to yours, plus now require close-up correction, too. Combine those factors with a bad astigmatism & it is one complicated prescription. l recently changed eye doctors & have found that some new lenses & new technology really works for me. They're from Coopervision & made of a new material, that while they're a bit more fragile, they contain a great deal more water & r able to correct both my distance & close-up vision issues. l do find that because they're mostly water, they do tend to dry out during the day & as they do, they become increasingly more uncomfortable & the same vision issues u described start happening. If l use over-the-counter rewetting drops throughout the day (every few hours, before problems arise), they remain much more comfortable & my vision stays much more clear.
My doctor suggested l use Clear Care solution, stating it is superior for cleaning, protein removal, hydration & longer wear comfort. Even though they're disposable lenses, it is sooooo important to keep them as clean & free of deposits as possible & this solution does seem to make a difference.
Good luck!
