I am a teenager and I am going to get contacts soon. l wanna know the dos and don'ts of contacts. l am in the school marching band, so we will be outside a lot in the heat and wind (l live in Arizona). My parents recently separated too, so l sometimes cry excessively.

wash ur hands thoroughly before u touch ur eyes

use rewetting drops throughout the day (if u cry or the wind hits them, ur eyes get very dry)

have an extra pair with u or glasses when youy go somewhere (trust me things can happen)

wash out ur contact case every night

make sure that when u put a contact in the shape of the contact looks like a bowl, not a UFO shape (thats how docs describe it)

make sure when u take the contact out of ur case to put it in, u put it in the palm of ur hand & douse it with clean fluid & rub on both sides.

dry ur hands with a regular towel before touching ur eye (the fibers come off in the contact fluid. use a paper towel

leave ur contacts in for more than eight hours when u first get them

sleep in ur contacts

assume ur contacts r completely clean until they have been sitting in the case for at least 4 hours


Ok, l am thinking that is all u need to know, the doctor will probably repeat everything l just said. You should invest in rewetting drops or multipurpose fluid to wet ur eyes during the day. crying makes contacts hold on to the eye. Personally, contacts were the best thing that ever happend to me, that had to do with my appearance. Do not let all the rules fluster you! They r great. You just have to be responsible.

Good advice, except DON'T rinse your contact case out with water. Only use contact solution on your lenses and your case. Rinse the case with the solution and let it air dry during the day. Always use fresh solution every time you put your contacts in the case. And get a new case every three months.

be careful taking them out . last night l scratched my eyeball!
but if you get the kind you sleep in only leave them in upto a week or two
