A contact lens fitting is usually an additional expense over & above the cost of a standard (comprehensive) eye exam. The cost will often vary depending on how difficult the fitting is & how many follow-up appointments the Dr. anticipates u will need. Your best bet is to call local eye doctors & compare pricing. The contact lens pricing will vary, as well, from one place to another & depending on which brand u end up in.
I've worked places that the fitting fee runs anywhere from $30 - $100 over the eye exam. The fee included the class to learn how to insert/remove & care for the lenses, the extra chair time the exam takes, a trial pair of contacts, a starter kit (cleaning solution & case) & anywhere from 1 - 4 follow-up appointments.
Be sure to ask if there r any rebates for the contact lenses also. Many vendors r offering mail-in rebates for ordering a year is supply of contacts.

In most cases, a contact lens exam is the cost of a general eye exam (usually about $40 to $70 here in Ohio), plus the additional cost of a contact lens fitting (usually about $30 to $50). This means that a contact lens exam is generally anywhere from $70 to $120, depending on where u go.

As far as brands, l have never used colored contacts myself, but Acuvue is the best. Period. l have used Acuvues for 6 of the 9 years l have worn contact lenses, & they r the most comfortable, & the least problematic. All of my friends who wear colored contacts tend to get Acuvues. Some don't, & the ones who have the Acuvues have an easier time with them.

Acuvue colored contacts r expensive though - about $30 per box - & a year is supply is about 8 boxes with Acuvue 2-week lenses. So you're probably looking at about $240 plus the cost of the exam if u r planning to use them on a daily basis.
