For as long as l can remember l have had something in or on my eye, might be normal, might not, but it looks like a small, clear, squiggly string. It can only be seen by me if l almost close my eyes, where l am looking through my eyelashes. It it not in the direct center, because if l try to look at it dead on, it just moves with my eye. l can not see it when my eyes are fully open, my eyes do not hurt, and l have 16/20 vision. It does not bother me, I am just curious.

It is called a floater. Your eye is filled with a gel like substance. Sometimes it gets ''clumps.'' So what you see is the shadow casted from these clumps. And they can get annoying and take a very long time to go away, if it ever does.
