This past February l found out l have Glaucoma. l knew l was near sighted and had astigmatism.

Is this bad to get it at such a young age?
What can l do to protect my eye sight?
The doctor said the pressure was enough to start using drops bu l have to go back next February for another exam.
Does this mean l will eventually lose my eyesight? l could not stand losing it.

He told me it is under control but acted nonchalant about it like it was nothing bad. To me it was a tear in my life. My mother has glaucoma but she is 62.
Does not wearing my glasses or contacts all the time make the glaucoma worse?

correction l am not using eye drops It should have stated wasn't

Some people get it a young age. Yes it is bad not to wear your glasses or contacts. l wouldnt' worry about it. Just follow the doctors instructions and you should be ok. Always wear your glasses though or your contacts to prevent other things happening to your eye sight.

l am nearsighted and have astigmatism AND l wear bifocals. ( l am 50). l do not have glaucoma, but my boss does and it DOESN'T mean you will eventually go blind. As LONG as you use the medication, you will be fine.

Not wearing the glasses wo not make it worse, but if you're nearsighted, you should NOT drive without your glasses.

The best thing to do if you have been diagnosed with glaucoma is to get a second opinion. Expecially since you are only 30. If you have not seen an ophthalmologist, see one. Ophthalmologists are medically trained to diagnose and treat eye disease. Wearing or not wearing glasses or contacts WILL NOT hurt your eyes or cause eye disease. You just wont see as well. See another Doctor to get a second opinion and make sure they explain everything to you.
